Broccoli

Broccoli is a nutritious, rewarding cool-season vegetable producing dense green heads of tightly-packed florets prized for their health benefits and delicious flavour. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, it’s wonderful steamed, stir-fried, roasted or in soups, and often gives extra side-shoots after the main head. It needs cooler weather, rich soil and steady moisture. Sow in trays, transplant sturdy seedlings into full sun in fertile, well-draining soil, feed and water regularly, and harvest firm heads in about 80–100 days. Healthy and satisfying, broccoli is a superb crop for cool-season kitchen gardens.
