Melastoma – Purple

Melastoma (Purple) is a beautiful tropical flowering shrub producing showy, five-petalled purple-pink blooms and attractive velvety foliage, followed by edible dark berries. Hardy and free-flowering, it makes a lovely ornamental hedge or feature plant and attracts bees and birds. Plant this sapling in sun to partial shade in fertile, moist, well-draining soil, water regularly, and trim to shape. Native to tropical Asia and wonderfully low-maintenance, purple melastoma brings vivid colour and a natural, wild-garden charm to gardens, borders and large containers.
