Carrot

Carrot is a rewarding root vegetable producing crisp, sweet, orange roots packed with beta-carotene and vitamins. Best grown in the cooler season, carrots thrive in loose, deep, sandy soil that lets the roots develop long and straight. Sow seeds directly in full sun to partial shade, thin the seedlings, keep the soil moist, and harvest tender roots in about 70–90 days. Delicious raw, juiced, in salads, curries and cakes, home-grown carrots are sweeter and fresher than shop-bought. A healthy, satisfying crop for garden beds, grow bags and deep containers.
